Presentation about the exchange program in Birmingham in 2014

From now on , We'll talk about our experience in Birmingham.

* The first day , we went to Birmingham via Chicago from New Tokyo International airport.
In Chicago , we went to Millenium Park and Lake Michigan. After sightseeing in Chicago , a group of Alabama University students picked us up at Birmingham airport. We were so excited to start a new life in Alabama .

On the second day of our trip , English class started. We enjoyed asking UAB students about the topic which had been given to us from the teacher Mr. Tim Cook and enjoyed brainstorming my idea. This class made me mull the idea , too.
We had one UAB student per two Japanese students in a group.
We had a marvelous time talking together about many things..

* After class , we visited sightseeing spots around the city , including historical spots and science facilities. We visited science - related places which was so beneficial for our entrance examination in Japan.
Also , at a TV station , we watched the news live. Surprisingly , we found that there was no cameramen in the studio , and the announcer followed and read the lines which were on the screen . We also practiced " Let it go " with the University students to show the host families at the welcome party .

During the weekend , we experienced a homestay which was three nights and four days. This is a photo of my host family and I. Saturday morning , we got up at nine and we relaxed and spent a lot of time together in their house than I estimated.
And I felt they were so kind to me. I taught my hostsister Japanese and how to fold Origami. In the evening , I cooked " Teriyaki " for my host family.
I was so pleased because my hostfamily became interested in Japanese culture. I also felt it was a good opportunity for me to get to know authentic American life.

* I was so surprised that they had washing machine in the living room and that they didn't have to dry the laundry outside . I went to the ice cream shop at night. And they had a motor boat and we had a great time at the lake.

During the last week in Birmingham , we visited the Consulate and paid a courtesy visit to the mayor. His story was so impressive and beneficial to me..
Also , we were on a live TV show on Fox TV. The title was Good Morning Alabama. We were so nervous but we became so famous in America.

For us , the three weeks of studying in America was a treasure.
The first three days , we had anxiety . For me , I had butterflies in my stomach.
But by and by we took to Birmigham's life like ducks to water.
Because all people around us were warm-hearted and helpful and taught us many fields about math and science. Through this study , I now think and ponder more seriously about social studies and other topics. And I come to get my thought together.
I come to keep my nose to the grindstone.
I used to be very shy , but now I have come out of my shell.
I found the importance of English conversation and my immature.
I'll pull my socks up or buckle down to study .

It turned into a nice memory. Now we gush over life in Birmingham. The last day we got a lump in our throats and tears welled up in our eyes.

With the help of the Birmingham Sister City Commission , we had a fabulous time in Birmingham. We do appreciate your support and your kindness.
I have no words to express our gratitude and I can't possibly put my thanks into words.
Now our faces radiate happiness after visiting Birmingham. We Hitachi -Kita High School students do continue this valuable exchange program forever because our time in Birmingham means everything to us.
I conclude our presentation. Thank you for listening.
